Sirocco by Lucien Lelong c1934

Sirôcco by Lucien Lelong: launched in 1934.





Fragrance Composition:


So what does it smell like? It is classified as a floral oriental fragrance for women.  It was described as a warm Oriental fragrance with hints of coriander, mosses, sweet, exotic ambergris and refreshing like a Mediterranean breeze.
  • Top notes: aldehydes, clove, coriander, lavender, ylang ylang, lilac
  • Middle notes: carnation, violet, jasmine, lily of the valley, rose, magnolia, opoponax, incense
  • Base notes: cedar, galbanum, vetiver, oakmoss, sandalwood, patchouli, ambergris, benzoin, vanilla, musk, tonka bean

L'Amour de l'art, 1950:
"Sirocco by Lucien Lelong: tenacious and disturbing, this fragrance of metamorphosis smells of hot sand and brings us the divine scents of the next oasis."


Harper's Bazaar, 1955:
"Sirocco," by Lucien Lelong, belongs to the woody, leafy, mossy group of perfumes — camouflaged here in a gold-plated flacon."


Bottles:


The pure parfum was presented in a beautiful twisted crystal bottle with a ground glass stopper. Sirocco was also housed in less expensive bottles and presentations.





Fate of the Fragrance:


Discontinued, date unknown.
